Equipping Schools in Kasese, Uganda with Literary Tools

Tangu Utotu Foundation was founded in 2018 with the main purpose of supporting four K-5 primary schools in Kasese, western Uganda. With over 1m people in the region surrounding Kasese, there are many well-established and well-funded primary schools.

We have focused on four of the least supported primary schools in our district. We offer annual teacher training and follow-up to ensure that best practices are being implemented.

As part of a community effort to replace a dilapidated structure that houses St. Luke’s Primary, last year our Healing Hands project built a new St. Luke’s which is now ranked 2nd in the district for outstanding primary educational learning environment. All four schools have more than 250 students between the ages of 4-9 years old; yet, there is no formal reading program - it's time to fix that!
